📄 Letter to Preston Harrington Sr, Jun 7 1903

The following was sent to Preston Meeker Harrington Sr (1871-1942) from a sender whose name is somewhat hard to read (see below for more).

Salem, June 7 1903

Dear Preston

Your letter and baby birth picture reached me in due time and was very glad to hear from you and to receive the picture, for which accept my many thanks. I judge Ruth is fast growing, and will soon be the young lady of the family. You did not say anything about the baby boy but I unreadable of course he is all right and looks like his papa. Would like to have his picture. I received a letter a few days ago from Mrs. B[unreadable, "Beedwood"?] said she had called to see the boy and that he is fine and Ruth a very interesting child. I have not heard anything from the Cambridge people in a long time. I suppose from an announcement of of Jane in the papers that she attended the unreadable wedding, imagine Anna would be bridesmaid as Lettie [?] and she were great friends. We are having very singular weather, so very dry and cold and for several days everything was shrouded in smoke from the forest fires that were not very far away. But to day the air is quite clear again. Think there must have been rain somewhere and that in due time we will have some here but not as the Western world has had it.

I shall expect to see you all in Salem when you come to Cambridge. Glad that Clem is feeling well and hope he is doing well. Hope this finds you all well. Love to Carrie and children.

Yours with kind regard,
[Eliza Jane?] Hopkins

Monday Morning
Since writing the above there has been a fine rain -- and more in prospect.
